Which roof box fits on my car?

You can easily find out the maximum roof load of your vehicle from your car manufacturer. Often the answer can also be found in the manual. Before renting a roof box, it is advisable to ask on the Internet (or also at the car manufacturer) about the compatibility of the car box to the vehicle. Of course, there are legal regulations for the installation of a car roof box. Depending on the country you want to travel to, you should inform yourself in advance about the regulations that apply there. For vehicles that do not exceed a height of 2.50 meters, the luggage box may not protrude either at the front or at the rear. If the vehicle is higher than 2.50 meters, the box may protrude a maximum of 50 cm to the front, 1.0 meter to the rear without marking, above one meter the box must be marked (maximum protrusion: 1.50 m).
Where to store the roof box?

When you rent a roof box, you can simply return it to the rental company after use. If you still want to take it off the car during the booked time, it is recommended to store the box in a lockable garage. If you buy a roof box, the box will be stored in the basement or the garage. Here you need to pay attention to the safety and humidity of the room, so that the material is protected from decay.
What does a roof box cost?

However, if you want to buy a high-quality and durable product, you will have to pay at least CHF 500. Therefore, if the box is used infrequently, the purchase quickly falls into the vacation budget. In addition, not every roof box fits on every car. If the car is changed after the purchase, it may not be possible to use the existing box for the new vehicle.
